Cynthia is a lifelong member of Martin Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in Chicago, Illinois. Her life experience includes being the only child of loving parents, Ulysses and Gabriella Revels. As a young girl, she was constantly reminded by her civil servant parents that service to others, educational obtainment, a love of self and love of God should be the hallmarks of your life.

Educationally, Cynthia is the product of a Chicago experience: St. Edmunds Parochial School, Academy of Our Lady High School (Longwood), Illinois State University and Roosevelt University. Currently she serves as the President of the Chicago District Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society.

Cynthia has embarked on a mission to raise the specter and ravages of childhood obesity and juvenile diabetes. She believes that the best measurement of a person’s commitments is to gauge their passions. During the 28th Quadrennial Convention in Orlando, Florida, she was elected the 13th Superintendent of the Buds of Promise Juvenile Missionary Society.

She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Xi Nu Omega Chapter, National Council of Negro Women, Church Women United, World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women, Council for Exceptional Children, Illinois Association of Administrators of Special Educators and her twenty-year relationship with her book club “IN THE COMPANY OF MY SISTERS.”
